Of course protection is your first defense with your waterless turf, this means protecting your turf from leaves, twigs, and other blown around matter such as garbage. You can do this with either a hedge or a tight woven fence. This is a deep cleaning with special detergents and according to the age of your synthetic turf you may also be applying fabric softener type applications in order to keep static cling and small electric shocks from happening. This deep cleaning is vital, while your synthetic turf has been protected from ultra violet rays, other chemicals floating in the air and settling can damage your lawn.
You may also need to use a decompactor on your lawn, this keeps the turf from bending and becoming flattened throughout and especially through heavy traffic areas.
You will know it's time to replace your synthetic turf when you notice that you are having to broom and sweep more frequently in order to keep your turf standing upright. You may also see excessive wear in paths or play areas. Make sure you move your play areas on a frequent basis and you won't have one area that is more worn than others but remember, with proper synthetic lawn or turf maintenance you can expect to get more than 10 years our of your lawn according to what you use it for.
Your waterless turf will last a very long time if you care for it properly with regular synthetic turf maintenance such as sweeping, brooming, and cleaning as well as being proactive concerning protection of your synthetic lawn. There is no doubt that not only will you save money with proper maintenance but the actual maintenance cost are slim compared to maintaining a planted lawn or turf.
